Miyetti Allah supporters storm Abuja court, seek president’s release
On Wednesday, a large number of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore members stormed the Federal High Court in Abuja, demanding the unconditional release of their president, Bello Bodejo.
Bodejo was detained on January 23 at Miyetti Allah’s office in Nasarawa State’s Karu Local Government Area for revealing the identity of a vigilante group.
Since then, he has been held in the Defence Intelligence Agency’s custody.
On February 5, the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), filed a motion ex parte to remand Bodejo awaiting the outcome of the inquiry and his arraignment in court.
But Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court’s Abuja Division ordered Bodejo to be remanded for 15 days.
Bodejo’s lawyer subsequently filed a motion for his unconditional release.
The motion is slated for hearing today.
