On Monday night, armed bandits attacked Funtua town in southern region of Funtua local government area in Katsina State, murdering at least one person.
Samaila Buhari Mairago, a member of the Funtua Local Government Council and Councillor representing Nasarawa Ward of Funtua LGA, was claimed to have been attacked at his home in the Nasarawa parts of town.
It was unclear whether the incident was a failed kidnap or robbery, but many social media users reported the attack and the legislator’s death.
