(Nasarawa) Gov. Sule rejects Tribunal verdict, heads to Supreme Court
Following the recent tribunal decision declaring his election invalid, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has urged restraint among his supporters and the residents of the State.
Since the legislation allows him to appeal again, he told the state’s citizens that he will continue to serve as governor until all appeals have been heard.
In a Monday evening speech to the public and his supporters, Governor Sule acknowledged the short-term defeat but vowed to appeal the decision to a higher court.
He expressed gratitude to all of his backers, particularly the youth and stakeholders. He gave special thanks to the women who couldn’t participate but nonetheless stood out during the trial.
In order to support him, the men who continue to stand outside in the rain for the security services were thanked by Governor Abdullahi.
“I remain the Governor until I appeal, and the law permits us to appeal again. And no matter what happens at that moment, I still remain the Governor until we go to the Supreme Court,” stated Governor Sule.
Sule urged the people of Nasarawa State to remain calm and avoid any actions that could disrupt peace and order in the state.
The governor stressed that protests or unrest wouldn’t change the tribunal’s decision, stressing the importance of trust in the judicial system and the appeal process.
“We still believe in the judiciary, and that is why we are going to appeal the case,” he asserted.
