NCC collaborates with Customs on border policing, anti-piracy efforts
The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have expanded their partnership on border policing and novel anti-copyright piracy tactics.
Mrs Funmilayo Adewale, the NCC Director of Public Affairs, made the announcement in an Abuja statement on Friday.
According to Adewale, the coalition would revitalize initiatives to foster innovation and boost Nigeria’s creative sector.
She claimed that the agreement was reached during the Director-General of NCC, Dr John Asein’s, courtesy visit to the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, in Abuja.
Both institutions’ executives, she claims, recognize the strategic importance of intellectual property, particularly copyright, to the country’s economy.
Adewale also bemoaned the harm caused by copyright pirates in the sector.
“The two agencies are commitment to introduce ICT driven proactive measures and enhance their operations through training and intelligence.
“Sharing as envisaged in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to check copyright piracy and other illicit activities in the copyright sector,” the NCC spokesperson said.
