NFF mourns demise of ex Super Falcons goalkeeper, Olaseni
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed sadness on the death of former Super Falcons goalkeeper Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni.
In a brief message issued on the NFF’s official X Twitter on Saturday night, the Federation prayed for the soul of the talented goalkeeper, who had been fighting cancer for eight years.
“We are sad to hear of the passing of former @NGSuper_Falcons goalkeeper, Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni, after an eight-year battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. May her gentle soul rest in peace,” the NFF wrote.
Beginning of the end.
The deceased was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2017, but received the all-clear a year later following therapy and a mastectomy.
Unfortunately, the cancer reappeared in January 2019, and despite financial assistance from the NFF and other well-meaning persons, the goalkeeper was unable to defeat the dreadful condition.
While she was mostly unknown with the Super Falcons, Aluko-Olaseni thrived with several other teams, including the Falconets, Rivers Angel, Ekiti Babes, Sunshine Queens, and Makbet Queens, among others.
The late goalkeeper’s funeral plans are anticipated to be disclosed soon by her family.
