Niger Coup: ECOWAS imposes visa ban, assets freezing other sanctions on junta
The leaders of the coup in the Niger Republic are now subject to further sanctions from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The coup leaders and their associates are subject to a travel ban and asset freeze as a result of the sanctions, according to Platinum Times Nigeria.
Ajuri Ngeale, the president’s spokesperson, revealed it to reporters at the State House.
He said that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was responsible for this.
But he avoided becoming specific.
The coup organizers had already been given seven days to restore President Mohamed Bazoum or face additional sanctions from the organization. The leaders of the coup, however, did not yield; they even broke ties with the US, France, Togo, Nigeria, and France.
