The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is a paramilitary organization that is responsible for the migration of people in and out of the country.

It was established in 1958 and is responsible for the enforcement of immigration laws, issuance of travel documents and provision of migration services to foreigners and citizens of the country.

The NIS has different ranking structure which is determined by a person’s qualification and years of service.

  • Senior Inspector of Immigration (SII).
