Ogun tribunal: Adebutu, PDP presents over 70 witnesses

One of the witnesses invited by Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to testify against Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Ogun State governorship election petition tribunal was Adesina Oladele Sakiru, a civil servant from Makun, Sagamu.

A PDP polling agent from Makun named Sakiru testified before the tribunal on Wednesday that thugs interfered with the election at his voting place.

“We had to run for our lives,” he said.

Additionally, Akintunde Akinsanya, a fish farmer from the same Makun, admitted during cross-examination that he was not a PDP supporter but that he cast his ballot for Adebutu on March 18.

Akinsanya claimed he offered to give a witness statement in court “because my vote did not count when the election was disrupted.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) canceled ballots as a result of the disruption, according to Omobolanle Shittu from Sagamu and Akeem Awotunbo from Iperu in the Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, both of whom testified before the tribunal.

Gordy Uche, the petitioners’ attorney, praised and praised his clients for successfully calling more than 70 witnesses to testify before the Ogun tribunal.

According to Platinum Times Nigeria, every witness who has been contacted thus far has confirmed that ballots were canceled at their polling places.
