Ondo: Governor Aiyedatiwa appoints Olayide Owolabi as Deputy
Adelami, who comes from Owo, the hometown of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, is a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly.

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has formally revealed his selection for the job of Deputy Governor.
Aiyedatiwa chose Olayide Owolabi Adelami, who is from Owo, Ondo State.
Pa and Mrs Amos Adelami gave birth to him almost 60 years ago in the Oluka Oribokun household.
Adelami attended the famed Imade College in Owo before moving on to The Polytechnic, Ibadan, for his GCE A level and the University of Lagos for his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He later earned an MBA from Ogun State University.
Adelami joined the Federal Civil Service as an Accountant II in December 1983, after completing the obligatory one-year National Youth Service Corps, or NYSC, in June.
He returned to the Treasury Department of the Accountant General of the Federation, and in 1988, he was assigned to the National Assembly Provisional Office in Abuja as one of the founding members of the Constituent Assembly, which evolved into the current National Assembly.
Adelami had the unique honor of establishing the National Assembly’s Finance and Accounts Department, as we know it today.
In 1996, he was asked to help establish the Petroleum Special Trust Fund’s Accounts Department. After completing the tasks, he was asked to serve at the Family Support Trust Fund, where he helped establish the Finance and Accounts Department.
He oversaw these departments from 1996 until 2000. It is worth noting that the National Hospital project in Abuja was carried out and completed under Adelami’s tenure.
Adelami was recalled to the National Assembly in 2000 to help strengthen the Finance Department. Three years later, he was appointed Head of the Finance and Accounts Department.
He held this role until 2007, when he was confirmed as Director. The following year, he was recommended for a one-year senior management program at the famous National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos.
After completing his training at the Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in 2008, he was given the larger duty of establishing the newly formed Department of Procurement and Supplies. Without a single trained staff member in procurement processes, Adelami, who enjoys challenges, went on a rigorous process of personnel training and grew the department to an enviable position.
In 2014, he was promoted to Secretary (Permanent Secretary) of the Directorate of Procurement, Estate, and Works. He held this job until his appointment as Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly.
Chief Adelami’s caring personality had a significant impact on the community, garnering him the nickname “Husband of the Widows”.
During the ongoing violence in Jos, Chief Adelami graciously contributed relief goods worth millions of naira to the internally displaced persons.
He contributed financially to the Rural Missionary fields, assisting in the development of places of worship in remote areas such as Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa states.
Chief Adelami, an active member of the Prison Fellowship in Nigeria, spent his time to ministering to prisoners’ spiritual and physical needs. For a long period, he served as the National Board of Trustees Prison Fellowship’s 2nd Vice Chairman.
