Osun government launches probe as food poisoning strikes Primary school
The Osun State Government has mandated thorough inquiries into the food poisoning incidents that have been recorded at St. James Primary School B in Owoope, Osogbo.
Sen. Ademola Adeleke, the governor of the state, was informed of the situation by Mrs. Grace Oluwaseyi Ayodele, the special adviser on O-Meal, and ordered prompt action.
Following that, the governor ordered that all food preparation at the impacted school be stopped while the investigations were ongoing.
A meeting this Tuesday morning has been scheduled with the Planning Officer for the O-Meal program and the impacted cooks from the aforementioned schools.
In order to prevent similar incidents in the future, the governor has also ordered the auditing of the O-Meal structure and the enforcement of food standards and controls.
According to Mr. Nathaniel Ojetola, the Chairman of the Local Government Education Authority, the government is currently paying the impacted students’ medical expenditures.
The LGEA Chairman, who spearheaded the intervention efforts, revealed that eighteen students received treatment and were released.
There are 200 students enrolled in the school total, of which 103 are part of the group that receives food through the O-Meal Program.
Additionally, a government delegation is paying the impacted pupils’ families a visit.
