Oyo explosion: Hotel manager dies of heart attack as death toll hits five

Platinum Times reports that the operations manager of one of the hotels in Ibadan Bodija Area has died of a heart attack.

Tunde Solomon died of a heart attack following Tuesday’s explosion at Dejo Oyelese Close, Bodija Housing Estate in Ibadan.

No less than five persons died as a result of the tragedy, while several others were injured.

The incident resulted in the destruction of property worth millions of naira and the displacement of hundreds of people.

According to Platinum Times, Solomon was the Operations Manager at BON Hotel Nest Ibadan, which was located just a few metres from the bomb site.

The hotel’s management, in a statement acquired by Platinum Times in Ibadan, praised the dead as unselfish and dedicated.

It went on to say that the deceased used his 25 years of industry experience to help the organization expand.

”We regret to inform you of the sudden passing of our beloved Operations Manager, Mr.Tunde Solomon. Mr. Solomon suffered a heart attack on the 17th of January 2024 and it
is believed that was a consequence of the explosion which occurred on the 16th of January 2024 at Bodija.

”Mr. Tunde Solomon was a vastly experienced member of staff with more than 25 years in the industry. His commitment to his role and his contributions to the growth of BON
Hotel Nest Ibadan and the BON group in general during his tenure were invaluable.

”His loss leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Solomon’s family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate through this challenging period,” the statement read.
