Mary Peter-Odili, a former justice of the Supreme Court, has denied attempting to sway the Presidential Election Tribunal in favor of President Bola Tinubu.
She denied engaging in favor-trading with the judges hearing the case regarding the presidential election.
In response to a newspaper that claimed she was “negotiating a pathway for President Bola Tinubu” and that she frequently met with the justices of the Appeal Court and Supreme Court in that capacity, Mary-Odili responded.
The retired judge denounced the accusation and called it nasty and untrue.
The retired justice stated that the claims were made to tarnish her integrity and sterling name in a statement provided by her media assistant, Felix Enebeli.
The paddler, one Jackson Ude, falsely and maliciously claimed, among other things, that the esteemed jurist is “currently negotiating a pathway for Bola Tinubu” and that “she meets regularly with Appeal and Supreme courts” in this regard. The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a publication circulating in the social media against the person of the retired Justice Mary Ukaego Peter-Odili.
“We deny every allegation contained in the publication and state that the publication is false, malicious, mischievous and a deliberate attempt at smearing the integrity and solid reputation of her lordship.
“We say nothing of the fact that the publication has the potential of inciting the public against her lordship on an issue of grave national importance.”
