PL: Man City, Chelsea in distress as FA docks Everton 10-point deduction
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City and Chelsea are in danger of being relegated from the Premier League.
This comes on the heels of Everton’s 10-point deduction on Friday, which established a strong precedent.
The punishment has sent the Toffees to second bottom of the table, however the club intends to appeal.
City is being investigated for 115 suspected breaches of Premier League financial rules, while Chelsea is being investigated for alleged payments related to previous owner Roman Abramovich.
Stefan Borson, a City lawyer, tweeted after Everton’s news broke: “Without seeing the judgement/award -10 points for Everton feels harsh to me for a straightforward FFP [Financial Fair Play] breach.”
“But reinforces that sanctions against City [if proven] and now Chelsea [if charged and admitted on the off-books payments] will be potentially relegation inducing.”
