President Tinubu summons all Nigeria’s Ambassadors

All of Nigeria’s ambassadors, both career and non-career, have been recalled by President Bola Tinubu.

Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the minister of foreign affairs, announced this development on Saturday.

In response to questions, Tuggar revealed that Tinubu had summoned Sarafa Ishola, the Nigerian ambassador to the UK.

A statement by Tuggar’s media aide, Alkasim Abdulkadir, reads:

“Sequel to the inquiries on the letter recalling the Nigerian ambassador to the UK, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has clarified that all career ambassadors and non-career ambassadors have been recalled on the instructions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Ambassadors as representatives of the country, serve at the behest of the president and it’s his prerogative to send or recall them from any country.”

The minister did not, however, provide an explanation for the recall.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed the present ambassadors, including Ishola.

However, Tinubu called him back as his term expires.

Prior to that, Ishola served as the late former President Musa Yar’Adua’s Minister for Mines and Steel Development.
