Remo Stars out of CAF Champions League after penalty defeat to Medeama

Following a loss to Medeama SC of Ghana in a 3-2 penalty shootout, Remo Stars was eliminated from the CAF Champions League.

The second leg of the preliminary round was won by Daniel Ogunmodede’s team, 1-0.

18 minutes from time, the goalkeeper for Medeama SC mishandled a corner kick and allowed Remo Stars to take the lead.

In extra time, Samuel Anakwe thought he had sealed the victory for the home team, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

After 90 minutes of play, the game went to penalties with a 1-1 overall score.

In the shootout, Medeama won with three goals, while Remo Stars scored twice.

Enyimba, another representative from Nigeria in the CAF Champions League, withdrew from the event on Sunday.

The Libyan team Al-Ahly Benghazi defeated the Aba giants 4-3 overall.
