Reps reveals date for 2024 budget passage

Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has stated that the 2024 budget will be passed on Saturday, December 30, 2023.
This declaration was made by Abbas as the House started plenary on Tuesday.
This came as he delivered a letter from the Committee on Appropriations to several House committees, instructing them to complete and submit their findings on budget defense by federal departments by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
Other budget-related processes, such as compilation, processing, and harmonization, he claims, would take place in the interim.
Remember that the House suspended plenary on December 1st to conduct budget proposal defense in order to expedite the approval of the Appropriation Bill.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented a N27.5 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2024 in November.
The budget was presented to a combined session of the National Assembly for review and final approval.
In his presentation, Tinubu declared,
“The 2024 Appropriation has been themed the Budget of Renewed Hope. The proposed budget seeks to achieve job-rich economic growth, macro-economic stability, a better investment environment, enhanced human capital development, as well as poverty reduction and greater access to social security.”
