Reps Speaker Abbas speaks on measures deployed to tackle insecurity

Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, claims that the House is taking action to stop the recent wave of attacks in several areas of the nation.

The Speaker’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Musa Krishi, made this announcement in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

He claims that Abbas offered the assurance to Amb. Ahmed Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau, during a condolence visit.

According to Krishi, the visit was in response to the collapse of portions of the Zaria Central Mosque on August 11, which resulted in multiple fatalities and several injuries.

He said that the visit was also motivated by a bandit attack on August 12 in the Zaria neighborhood of Kofar Gayan, which left two people dead.

According to Krishi, the Speaker expressed sorrow for the terrible events and reassured the Zazzau Emirate’s leadership and populace that the House has taken steps to prevent a repeat.

He claims that Abbas gave the Emir the assurance that the military would form up around some flashpoints to prevent further attacks on the local communities in Zaria and its surroundings.

He also quoted Abbas as saying:

“I want to assure you that based on the way banditry wants to return, we in the House have taken some measures.

“We have started engaging the military, and they will come and establish a formation around the female school at the Kofar Gayan axis. They have assured us that they would do that.

“I also want to assure you that as a son of the land and one of the kingmakers in this palace, I am ready to contribute to the rebuilding of the mosque.

“When it’s time for the work, let me know so that I will contribute my quota to the rebuilding of this important religious edifice.

“We thank you for giving us this opportunity to come and condole with you.”
