Stoppage time goals give Wolves 2-1 victory over Spurs

Wolves came from behind to defeat Tottenham in the Premier League, scoring twice in stoppage time.

After an expertly executed pass by Pablo Sarabia, Mario Lemina slipped the ball into the far side of the net in the seventh minute of extra time at Molineux.

Sarabia had equalized six minutes earlier with a stunning volley after flipping the ball to himself in the air.

Gary O’Neil, manager of the Wolves, stated he was “most proud” of his team.

Spurs’ 10-game unbeaten streak was ended by a tumultuous 4-1 loss to Chelsea on Monday, but they responded quickly on Saturday when Brennan Johnson tapped home after latching on to a Pedro Porro ball.

Wolves soon surged into the game with intense pressing in the final third, albeit lacking any genuine cutting edge in front of goal, and Tottenham’s impression was fleeting.

Wolves missed multiple chances, with Hwang Hee-chan and Sasa Kalajdzic missing the target from close range, but they stayed aggressive.

Tottenham failed to escape unhurt following Wolves’ late heroics, falling to back-to-back defeats and missing out on a chance to go top of the table.

“It was the most proud I have been of a group I have coached, to produce what they produced against a top side,” O’Neill remarked.

“Even if the game had ended 1-0 to Tottenham, I would have been very proud of the group.”

“I told the boys at halftime that the score was unimportant.” We were the superior team; don’t let the scoreboard determine how you feel.

“I try to make the team resemble me but I was never good enough to produce a performance like that.”
