Super Falcons: NFF begins search for Waldrum’s replacement
Following Waldrum’s contract expiration, the NFF starts looking for a new Super Falcons coach.
After Randy Waldrum’s contract with the Super Falcons expired, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) started looking for a replacement.
In August of 2023, Waldrum led the Super Falcons to the Round of 16 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Despite the Super Falcons’ great performance in Australia and New Zealand, the NFF has chosen not to extend the American’s contract.
In the months leading up to the competition, Waldrum and the NFF were embroiled in a fierce dispute.
“The NFF Board resolved to be thorough and ensure meritocracy in the composition of new coaching crews for the various Women National Teams (Super Falcons, Falconets and Flamingos) within the shortest possible time, as the Super Falcons and Falconets have crucial qualifying fixtures for major championships in a matter of weeks,”
The football house said in statement following its annual general assembly meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital, on Sunday.
The Super Falcons will take on Ethiopia in an Olympic qualifier next month.
