Tell Nigerians how you got a University degree without Primary and secondary school education – Atiku knocks Tinubu again
President Bola Tinubu’s academic achievements have once more been derided by Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate for the general elections of 2023.
The president’s academic background, according to Atiku, who is contesting the validity of Tinubu’s degree certificate issued by Chicago State University in the United States, continues to be a significant source of misunderstanding.
Atiku charged the president with boycotting elementary and secondary schooling in order to transfer to Chicago State University in a post via X, formerly known as Twitter.
Before moving on to Children’s Home School in Ibadan, Tinubu, the former vice president, said that he attended St. John’s Primary School in Aroloya, Lagos.
He claimed that President Tinubu’s academic standing in 2023 was different from that shown in 1999, adding that the president simply claimed to have attended Chicago State University without having completed his primary and secondary schooling.
“I woke up this morning wondering how we got to this cul de sac. In 1999, @officialABAT claimed he attended St. John’s Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos, before proceeding to Children Home School in Ibadan.”
“According to him, his next port of call in his educational journey was Government College Ibadan and, Richard Daley College and Chicago State University in the United States.
“Curiously, in 2023, Tinubu settled with attending only @ChicagoState. I am scratching my head. How is that possible? Methinks that all well-meaning Nigerians should be as confused as I am with Tinubu’s declaration that he had no primary and secondary education, yet he has a university degree. You may wish to #AskTinubu how he attained this feat so that we can learn from his ingenuity 😆 -AA,” Atiku wrote.
Tinubu was proclaimed the victor of the 2023 presidential election in March.
Atiku, however, has repeatedly contested the poll’s results in front of the Presidential Election Petition Court, claiming many issues with the President’s academic background.
Additionally, he had applied to a US court in Chicago’s northern district of Illinois for an order ordering Chicago State University (CSU) to make Tinubu’s academic records public.
Atiku is requesting documents through his attorney, Angela M. Liu, including records of his enrollment and acceptance to the university, dates of attendance, as well as any degrees, honors, and distinctions Tinubu may have received at the institution.
Atiku explained to the court that the subpoena was issued to investigate the truth and reliability of Tinubu’s claims. He also mentioned that Tinubu is currently the president of Nigeria and that he is involved in numerous legal battles over his election and the validity of documents proving his enrollment at Chicago State University.
In a paper that Daily Trust obtained, the institution responded by stating that it “does not understand” how Tinubu’s academic achievements “could possibly have any bearing on a 2023 election challenge in a foreign country.”
However, it stated that Tinubu’s academic record would be made public once an order is issued by a court in the US.
