Midway through his performance at the Afronation festival in Detroit, Michigan, on Sunday, popular musician David Adeleke, nicknamed Davido, halted to pay tribute to Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, the mother of Wizkid, who passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023.
Davido stressed that he had experienced the loss of many loved ones, including his mother, Mrs. Veronica Adekunle, who passed away many years ago, and that he was not new to pain.
However, he claimed that prior to her passing, Wizkid’s musical accomplishments made his mother happy.
Addressing the crowd, Davido said, “Personally, I have lost so many people in my life. And I want to send condolences to my brother, Ayo Balogun Wizkid. To his mother, may her soul rest in peace.
“I lost my mother myself years ago. But I know whatever he [Wizkid] has done, he has made his mother proud.”
