President Bola Tinubu launched 107 mass transport vehicles, including 50 electric taxis purchased by the Borno State Government, on Monday in Maiduguri.

The President praised Governor Babagana Zulum for his foresight and people-centered policies and projects during the occasion.

He revealed that the federal government intended to build a facility in that area to create jobs and improve transportation.

Earlier, Zulum stated that he was inspired to start the project after receiving a direction from the President to the governors following the withdrawal of the fuel subsidy.

He said that the deployment of 50 electric taxis was the first of its type in Nigeria and was in keeping with climate change realities.

According to NAN, the President inaugurated 50 electric taxis, 35 coaster buses, 12 Hummer buses, and ten deluxe buses.

Tinubu, who was in Maiduguri for his first official visit, paid a courtesy call on Borno’s Shehu, Abubakar El-Kanemi.

In addition, the President opened the annual Chief of Army Staff Conference.
