Tinubu mourns passing away of Saudi Prince killed in jet crash
President Bola Tinubu expressed condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman of Saudi Arabia, and the Saudi Royal House on the death of Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz bin Bandar Al Saud, who died in a plane crash on Thursday.
The Saudi Royal Court announced that Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz died on December 7 after a Saudi Arabian Air Force F-15SA fighter plane crashed near Dhahran.
It did not, however, reveal the injuries that resulted in the prince’s death.
Talal, 62, was on a training mission when he was killed together with another pilot.
According to the monarchy, Talal’s final rites will be performed at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.
President Barack Obama issued a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
Tinubu offered his condolences, recalling the late Prince’s exceptional and committed service to his country during his distinguished career in the Royal Saudi Air Force and the Saudi Intelligence Agency.
According to a statement headlined ‘President Tinubu mourns Saudi Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz Bin Bandar Al Saud,’ the President prayed to God Almighty to provide repose to the departed’s soul, as well as solace to the Royal House of Saud, the Kingdom, and those who mourn this irreparable loss.
Prince Talal joins a long list of Saudi Royals who have been engaged in or lost their lives in aviation mishaps, dating back to a 2017 helicopter crash near the Saudi-Yemeni border that killed Prince Mansour bin Muqrin and seven others.
