Tobi Amusan book World Athletics Championship 100m final spot
Tobi Amusan, the defending 100-meter hurdles world champion, qualified for the final on Wednesday at the current World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Amusan, who was in lane 7, prevailed in the second semi-final despite a sluggish start.
She now appears to be extremely motivated to win the championship she won in Oregon last year on Thursday in the last race.
Amusan was only permitted to compete last week due to an alleged anti-doping rule violation, but the Nigerian finished first in the semifinals in 12.56 seconds.
Young Jamaican Ackera Nugent, who had an early lead before Amusan stole the title at the finish line, pushed her all the way.
The current NCAA Champion, who finished in 12.60 seconds, had to settle for second place.
