Troost-Ekong to undergo minor surgery, out till end of the season

Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong will have minor surgery in Finland this week following an injury sustained at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Troost-Ekong received the injury in Nigeria’s second group game against hosts Cote d’Ivoire.

The 30-year-old scored the winning goal for the Super Eagles from the penalty spot in the match.

The centre-back did not play in the Super Eagles’ next match against Guinea-Bissau’s Djurtus.

Troost-Ekong went on to play every minute of the Super Eagles’ remaining matches in the competition.

The former Watford player scored three goals for the three-time African winners in the AFCON 2023 final.

He was officially named Player of the Tournament.

Troost-Ekong is anticipated to return to Greek club PAOK by the end of the season.
