Unknown Gunmen assassinate traditional ruler in Ogun

Unknown gunmen assassinated Adeyinka Folarin, the Baasegun of the Itunsokun community in Ogun State.
On Monday night, at 8 p.m., gunmen suspected of being cultists were claimed to have attacked Folarin in his Sagamu apartment.
Two traditional rulers, who did not want their identities published, verified the killing.
One of the traditional rulers commented, “The information is correct, although I don’t know anything about the occurrence. We learned yesterday night that the chief, a well-known traditional chief and Akarigbo in-council member, was slain. He is commonly referred to as Baasegun; yet, we cannot affirm that these are the ones who committed these atrocities. We let the police and other security organizations perform their jobs.”
According to a Sagamu Local Government employee who requested anonymity, the tragedy also caused the LG workers to rapidly close for the day in order to escape being caught up in any act of violence that the killing may have caused.
The source said,
“Already, tension is very high in the town as I speak to you, workers are already moving out of the local government secretariat to avoid being caught in any form of crisis. Many are saying the man was killed by cultists but no one could really confirm this, the information is still scanty now.”
The Spokesperson of Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola when contacted for reaction said she would check and get back to our correspondent. She has yet to get back as of the time of filling this report.
