Usman Ododo takes oath of office as Executive Gov of Kogi State
Usman Ododo has been inaugurated in as governor of Kogi State, months after being elected to succeed Yahaya Bello, who has completed his second term in office.
Ododo took the oath of office in Lokoja at around 2:24 p.m. on Saturday.
His inauguration came just minutes after Salifu Joel Oyibo, Kogi State’s deputy governor, took the oath of office.
Ododo is now the fifth Executive Governor of Kogi state, having been sworn in.
The occasion was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Ododo’s predecessor Yahaya Bello, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and other party leaders.
Governor Ododo expressed appreciation for the participation of his closest challenger during the election, Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in his speech, saying that nasty politics are no longer acceptable.
