Why we lost to Arsenal – Ten Hag speaks
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has cited three refereeing mistakes as the cause of his team’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Sunday.
At the Emirates, the Red Devils suffered their second defeat in their last four games.
They had taken the lead thanks to Marcus Rashford, but Martin Odegaard quickly tied the score.
Late in the game, Rasmus Hojlund’s claims of a penalty were rejected, while Alejandro Garnacho had a goal disallowed for offside.
Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus scored two late goals for Arsenal, giving them the victory.
Ten Hag has finally identified the crucial moments in the game that determined the outcome.
“It was not an offside (for Garnacho). It was the wrong angle. And there was a penalty on Højlund and a foul on Evans (for Rice’s goal). The performance was right. Everything went against us,” he told Sky Sports.
