WWC 2023: Remi Tinubu donates $10,000 each to Super Falcons players

Oluremi Tinubu, the first lady of Nigeria, donates the Super Falcons players $10,000 each as compensation for their performances at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Before losing on penalties to the Three Lionesses of England, the Super Falcons advanced to the competition’s Round of 16.
With their outstanding performance in the competition, the nine-time African champions attracted attention.
This week, Tinubu welcomed the players to Abuja and commended them for their “unbreakable spirit and unwavering strength.”
Osinachi Ohale, a defender, praised Remi Tinubu for her thoughtful action.
“We are grateful for this unexpected gesture because for several years we’ve been winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) and I can’t remember us being honoured or rewarded this way,” the experienced centre-back, Ohale, told BBC Sport Africa.
“We appreciate the federal government for their support and encouragement. And we also thank Nigerians for the remarkable support during the tournament,” she added.
