You must adhere to Nigerian laws — Wike tells Embassies, Foreign Missions

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), stated on Friday that representatives of foreign missions and embassies must abide by Nigerian regulations, particularly those pertaining to the payment of ground rent.
During a courtesy call with Mr. Stefano Leo, the Italian ambassador to Nigeria, Wike stated this in Abuja.
He believes that if the law is not obeyed, there will be no justice or harmony, which are required for efficient administration.
He assured the Ambassador that the ground rate payment directive had no specific goal in mind and reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to establishing an environment conducive to business development and other socioeconomic advancement.
Furthermore, Wike claimed that his administration would be happy to engage with the Italian government on tourism and agricultural projects.
Ambassador Stefano Leo stated earlier that he had come to congratulate the Minister.
“Having you here in Abuja means we can continue our very good cooperation. I will be glad to host you at the Embassy,” he said.
He said that Rome, the capital city of Italy, was at the forefront of tourism, adding that the country has huge plans to support sustainable city development and new ideas for green cities.
“It will be a pleasure to follow your ideas to strengthen cooperation with you,” the Ambassador said.
