11 people hospitalized following fire outbreak at London apartment

A massive fire at a residential building in London’s upmarket South Kensington area in the early hours of Friday has hospitalized 11 people and evacuated approximately 130 others, according to fire officials.
Fifteen fire engines and over 100 firefighters were dispatched to the incident at a terraced home converted into apartments on Emperor’s Gate, in the southwest of the British capital, near the Natural History Museum.
The London Fire Brigade said on X that half of the ground floor of the five-story structure was on fire when they arrived.
“The fire has moved from the ground to the upper floors and roof. “Crews are working hard to stop it spreading to adjacent buildings,” stated Station Commander Steve Collins from the scene.
Five people were rescued using ladders, while approximately 130 residents were evacuated from the property and surrounding structures.
“Around 11 people have been treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital,” the fire service added.
