31 perish as bus plunges off bridge in Mali

Thirty-one people were killed and ten others injured in Mali on Tuesday after a bus bound for Burkina Faso slid off a bridge in the country’s southeast, according to the Transport Ministry.

According to the report, the accident occurred at 5:00 p.m. (1700 GMT) on a bridge over the Bagoe River.

“A bus leaving Kenieba commune for Burkina Faso tipped off a bridge.” The most likely cause is that the driver lost control of the vehicle,” the ministry stated.

Automobile accidents occur often in Mali, since many roads, highways, and automobiles are in bad condition.

Earlier this month, a bus bound for the capital Bamako crashed with a truck in central Mali, killing 15 people and injuring 46.
