Old Trafford agog as McTominay’s strikes give United 2-1 victory over Brentford
Scott McTominay scored twice in stoppage time to lead Manchester United to a thrilling Premier League victory over Brentford at Old Trafford.
Mathias Jensen’s first-half goal had United facing a third consecutive home league loss for the first time since 1977.
McTominay came in with three minutes remaining as manager Erik ten Hag frantically sought salvation – and the Scot deservedly delivered.
When Kristoffer Ajer scuffed a clearance inside his own area for the opening goal, he demonstrated terrific composure before hitting home.
Then, after Anthony Martial’s low drive was stopped by Thomas Strakosha, McTominay was the first to react to a Harry Maguire flick-on and executed the crucial finish.
The home crowd rejoiced long after the final whistle while their squad took a lap of honor, which was arguably a tad excessive but perfectly understandable given the circumstances.
