Earlier this month, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal in Lokoja declared Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election.
The court also ruled that Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was the legitimate winner of the February senate election.

However, Ohere went to the appellate court to seek remedy, but the court upheld Akpoti-Uduagan as the poll’s winner.
