EPL: (Week 11) Arsenal’s unbeaten run ends at Newcastle

Arsenal’s perfect start to the season came to an end with a 1-0 loss to Newcastle at St. James’ Park on Saturday Night Football, missing the opportunity to draw even with Premier League leaders Manchester City.

In a fierce match between two teams that placed in the top four last season, Anthony Gordon’s close-range finish in the 64th minute—which was subject to a four-minute VAR check—proved to be the winning goal.

Man Utd wins crucially over Fulham thanks to a late goal from Fernandes.
Though there was little goalmouth action in the first half, tensions reached a fever pitch just before halftime when Bruno Guimaraes was lucky not to be sent off for a forearm on Jorginho off the ball, and Kai Havertz was booked for a reckless lunge on Sean Longstaff.

Gordon’s goal with Newcastle’s first shot on goal earned Eddie Howe’s team a remarkable triumph that moved them up to sixth in the table and extended their unbeaten league run to seven games. The match calmed down in the second half, despite some intense late pressure from Arsenal.

After Man City’s 6-1 victory over Bournemouth earlier in the day, Mikel Arteta’s team, Arsenal, lost out on a chance to join Man City at the Premier League summit. The Gunners trail their rivals Tottenham of North London by two points and can go ahead of them when they play Chelsea on Monday Night Football.
