Early Life
Usman Ododo is an indigene of Kogi State and he belongs to the Ebira tribe which is the dominant ethnic group in Kogi State. He was born on February 17 1982.
Education
He completed his secondary education at Federal Government College, Okene before proceeding to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained a degree in Political Science in 2004.
In 2008, he had his Master’s in Public Administration from the same University.
To further the his academic skills, he also attended several professional courses which has helped shape and prepare him for the rigours and expectations of top public office.
They include; Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Member, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)M ember, Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
Career
Odo has served in various capacities including as a member of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, a Special Assistant to the Governor, and Chairman of the Kogi State Youth Council.
In 2019, he was appointed Auditor General for Kogi state by Gov. Yahaya Bello until 2023 when he declared his interest in contesting for governorship of Kogi State in the All Progressive Congress platform.
Usman Ododo emerged winner of the Kogi State gubernatorial election that held on Saturday November 11, 2023 pulling 446, 237 votes as against to his opponent from other Political parties.
Following his victory, he was declared Governor- elect of Kogi State on Sunday 12th November, 2023 by the returning officer of the state, Prof. Johnson Urame.
Personal life
Usman Ododo is a devout Muslim and happily married to Hajiya Ododo and they both have children.
He is also a philantropist, mentor and lover of sports.
