Early Life

Rema was born on 1st May, 2000 in Edo State and given the name Divine Ikubor.

Education

Rema attended the Ighile group of schools, Edo state where he had his primary and secondary education.

He is currently an undergraduate in the University of Lagos.

Career

He began his music career in churches before he was discovered by D’Prince, the CEO of Jozingworld Records and a younger brother to Don Jazzy, the CEO of Mavins Record.

In 2018, he posted a freestyle video to D’Prince’s track Gucci Gang which caught D’Prince’s attention.

He signed him to his Jonzing World record label, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in 2019.

Rema’s hit song Iron Man was included in Barack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist. He collaborated with Selena Gomez to produce a remix for his song Calm Down in 2022.

In 2022, Rema got global recognition after the remix of his song “Calm Down” which make him to the billboard 100 and earned him a billion streams on Spotify.

Rema is also a brand ambassador of BMW and Pepsi.

He has received a BMW beamer from the BMW Club of Nigeria for featuring the brand in his hit single, Beamer (Bad Boys).
