JUST-IN: Tinubu to execute Oransanye Committee Report, 12 years after

President Bola Tinubu has finally begun to execute the suggestions made in the Stephen Oransanye report on overhauling Nigeria’s federal agencies, which was submitted 12 years ago.

The 2011 report, commissioned by then-President Goodluck Jonathan, advocated for the consolidation, merger, or elimination of various unnecessary and inefficient government parastatals.

However, successive administrations have refused to address the findings until now.

Speaking after a federal executive council (FEC) meeting on Monday, Mohammed Idris, the Information Minister, stated that Tinubu had approved broad reforms based on the Oransanye Committee findings.

He stated that numerous agencies will be dissolved, merged with others, or reorganized.

Idris described the changes as a cost-cutting strategy to streamline governance.

He also promised employees that the restructuring would not have an immediate impact on their careers.
