Biography
Born on the 23rd of September,1960 in Koyar Getso, Old Gwarzo LGA of Kano State.
He went to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he graduated with a degree in Textile Engineering.
He completed his primary and secondary education at Gwarzo day primary school and Science Secondary School, Dawakin Kudu in 1977 and 1982 respectively.
His academic pursuit also included a mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme at Asaba Textile industry in Delta State.
He is a practicing Muslim and married to Bilkisu Usman and they have children together.
Political history
Abdullahi Gwarzo entered politics on the platform of the Social Democratic party (SDP) where he was elected as chairman of Gwarzo local government council in 1991-1993.
From 1997-1998, he served in the same capacity under United Nigeria Congress Party (NCPN), during late General Abacha’s transition to a civilian administration.
Between 2004 and 2007, he served as the special adviser to Kano state government and later the deputy giver of the state from 2007 to 2011 when he defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and contested as governor but lost.
In 2021, he was appointed chairman of the governing council of the Federal College of Education in Zaria.
Presently, Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo serves as the Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development after appointment by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
