Early Life

Ademola Adeleke was born in Ede LGA, Osun state on 13th May, 1960.

Education

He began his early education at Methodist Primary School, Surulere, Lagos after which he moved to Nawarudeen Primary School, Ikire in Oyo State, Nigera.

He was then enrolled in Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School Ede and to Ede Muslim Grammar school where he completed his secondary education.

He attended Jacksonville State University, Alabama, in the United States, where he studied criminal justice and political science. He obtained a degree in Criminal Justice from the Atlanta Metropolitan State College.

Career

Adeleke has a successful business career for decades and has garnered enough wealth and firm for himself over the years.

From 1985 to 1989, Ademola worked with Quicksilver Courier Company in Atlanta, Georgia, US, as a service contractor.

From 1990 to 1994, he was Vice President of Origin International LLC, Atlanta, Georgia, US, a flavours and fragrance manufacturing company.

Between 1992 to 1999, Adeleke was an executive director of Guinness Nig. Plc.
He later joined his brother’s company, Pacific Holdings Ltd. from 2001 to 2016 as the executive director.

Political history

Adeleke started his political career in 2001 alongside his late brother Senator Isiaka Adeleke who died in April 2017.

He contested at the Osun west 2017 by-election after the death of his brother, emerging as the winner under the People’s Democratic Party.

Ademola was a member of the All Progressives Congress until he decamped to the People’s Democratic Party in April 2017.

On 23 July 2018, Adeleke emerged as the governorship candidate of PDP in Osun State after defeating his closest rival, Akin Ogunbiyi by seven votes.

On September 22, 2018, Adeleke ran for governorship of Osun State as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) against APC’s Gboyega Oyetola and Iyiola Omisore, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ruled the election inconclusive and scheduled a rerun for September 27, 2018. Oyetola, a candidate for the APC, won the run-off election.

Adeleke tagged the election a “coup” and opposed the outcome. On March 22, 2019, a Tribunal proclaimed Adeleke, winner of the election.

The Supreme Court later affirmed Gboyega Oyetola as the real winner of the 2018 Osun State governorship election on Friday, 5 July 2019.

In 2022, Adeleke contested in the gubernatorial election of 16 July under the PDP against incumbent governor Gboyega Oyetola. Adeleke secured majority of the votes and was declared winner of the election.

Ademola Adeleke is from the renowned and influential Adeleke family in Ede LGA of Osun State.

His mother is an Igbo-Christian named Nnena Esther Adeleke, while his father is a Muslim named Raji Ayoola Adeleke.

Adeleke is president of Adeleke University brother to late Sen. Isiaka Adeleke.

He is the third and last child of his parents, an uncle to popular musician, Davido and the father of another popular singer B-red. He is married to Mrs. Titilola Adeleke and they have children together.
