Agbu Kefas was born on 12th November 1970, in Wukari, Taraba State (formally Gongola State, Nigeria.
Education
After he elementary and secondary education, Kefas obtained a degree in Political science and Defense Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna in 1994.
He has a Master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology in 2005 and another Master’s in Public administration from Delta State University, Abraka in 2008.
He is an alumni of the Prestigious Harvard Kennedy School in the US.
Career
After his retirement from the Nigerian army, he was appointed to chair the Governing board of directors of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency(NIMASA) from 2013 to 2015.
He was a member of the presidential committe on North-east Initiative from 2016 to 2019.
In 2020, Kefas emerged State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Taraba State.
He emerged as the party’s flagbearer ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial race of Taraba State in 2022.
In March 2023, he contested for the office of the Governor of Taraba State as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, the state’s ruling party.
He won the election and was sworn in as Governor of the State.

Kefas is a Muslim and the younger brother to late Air Commodore Ibrahim Kefas. He is married and has children.
