Aiyedatiwa ‘bars’ Ondo APC governorship aspirants from meeting Tinubu

Wale Akinterinwa, one of the leading candidates in the upcoming APC primary election in Ondo, has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of stopping him and other aspirants from welcoming President Bola Tinubu to the state.

According to Platinum Times, Tinubu arrived in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday to express his condolences to the government and people following the death of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

According to Akinterinwa, the practice is for party members to gather at the airport to welcome the president to the state.

However, the APC chairman said that Aiyedatiwa barred them from visiting the president.

He criticized Governor Aiyedatiwa’s decision barring their visit to the airport as undemocratic, rude, and unfair.

Describing Governor Aiyedatiwa as an “ignorant mind”, Akinterinwa alleged that the governor had planned to “unleash mayhem” on other aspirants and their supporters if they had gone to the airport.

But reacting to Akinterinwa’s claims, spokesperson to the governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, said President Tinubu was on a private visit to Ondo State and not for political campaigns.
