Early life
Arthur Okonkwo was born in London on 9th September, 2001 to Nigerian parents of Igbo descent.
Career
He began his career at Hampstead Academy before before moving on to Lindus Park where he joined the Arsenal academy at the age of eight in 2009.
He also debuted for the under-23 Arsenal side at the age of seventeen. By the 2018–19 season, he was among the runners-up in the U18 Premier League, and was already appearing as a bench goalkeeper for the first team, and going into the 2019–20 campaign, he would be 3rd in line for goalkeeping duties.
Okonkwo played in Arsenal under-21s’ and was victorioua in the EFL Trophy at Crawley Town on 30 October 2020 and in a 1–1 draw at Plymouth Argyle in the same competition in November, 2021.
He also played with Crewe Alexandra, Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz and currently Wrexham on a loan deal.
In February 2024, his nationality switch was approved by FIFA to enable him represent the Nigeria national team, Super Eagles.
