Asari Dokubo’s boys spotted in Abuja vows trouble if Tinubu loses at PEPT (video)

The boys of former Niger Delta insurgent Asari Dokubo have promised to cause trouble if President Bola Tinubu is dismissed by the presidential election petition panel on Wednesday.

According to the Platinum Times, Tinubu allies who were dressed in red and black clothing with the ex-militant’s name gathered at the court early on Wednesday while carrying signs, singing, and dancing.

One of the demonstrators, Ogele Commander, told Platinum Times that the tribunal should use “their wisdom” to prevent Mr. Tinubu from being fired.

“That’s why we tell the tribunal to use their wisdom. Don’t divide Nigeria. Others should wait for their tenure,” Mr Commander said.

When asked what the group would do should the tribunal ruling go against the incumbent president, Mr Commander said,

“That’s their longer throat. They want to divide Nigeria. We want them to use their office to create peace. If they say they will cause problems, we will give them problem.”

He added, “If they don’t want peace for Tinubu to rule, we’ll give them what they want,” he added, gesticulating with a walkie-talkie in his right hand.

Mr. Dokubo, who was recently received by Mr. Tinubu in the Presidential Villa, had previously led the group to the tribunal on several times in support of Mr. Tinubu.

The panel set September 6 for a decision on petitions contesting Mr. Tinubu’s victory on Monday.

Both of the contenders in the most recent presidential election, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, assert that they were the true winners of the election rather than Mr. Tinubu.

In the election, Mr. Abubakar received 6.9 million votes, while Mr. Obi received 6.1 million.

On March 1, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which is headed by Mahmood Yakubu, proclaimed Mr. Tinubu the victor.

The opposition candidates are contesting Mr. Tinubu’s victory on the grounds that he did not receive 25% of the vote in the Federal Capital Territory and that he had previously forfeited money associated with drug trafficking, among other reasons.
