Biography

Bosun Tijani is an indigene of Ogun state but was born  in Agege, Lagos State on 20th July, 1977.

He had his secondary education in Abeokuta before obtaining a diploma in Computer Science from the University of Jos, plateau state and later a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the same University in 2002.

He went further to obtain an MSc in Information Systems and Management from the Warwick Business School, United Kingdom in 2007 and a PhD in innovation and economic development from the University of Leicester in 2023.

Bosun Tijani conducted his doctoral research on the development of innovation ecosystems for developing countries.

Bosun Tijani is a Christian and his married to Moji Tijani, their union is blessed with three children.

He is a football lover and fitness enthusiast.

He was a  part of the Innovation for Economic Development executive programme at Harvard Kennedy School in 2013 and a Draper Hills Fellow of the Centre for Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL) at Stanford University in 2014.

Work history

Tijani worked on a research project with the International Trade Centre, Geneva, Switzerland.

He controlled the deployment of the ODel learning centre at the Africa Virtual University in Kenya and completed the deployment of the HP, IEEE and University of Ibadan telecentre in Nigeria.

He also piloted the deployment of the HP Micro-enterprise Acceleration Programme learning centre at the Lagos Business School in Nigeria and provided recognizable support to its deployment in Egypt and Morocco.

In 2006, Bosun Tijani initiated the first visit of cyber guru, Mark Zuckerberg to Nigeria and several other global technology experts. He also spearheaded different technology projects in Lagos State.

He founded Tijani Co-creation Hub (CcHUB), a technology innovation centre in 2010 and Truppr, a social platform that allows fitness enthusiasts organise events, or join in on, amateur sporting events within their locality.

He also established STEM Cafe for kids and adults in Lagos, Kigali and Nairobi in 2019.

Bosun Tijani has over the years gathered several work experiences in the cyber and technology sector serving in companies including Taeillo, an African e-commerce furniture and lifestyle brand and LifeBank where he was the Chairman.

He is a Fellow of Desmond Tutu Leadership Association since 2017.

Bosun Tijani was appointed Minister of Innovation and Digital Economy in August 2023 by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and this incited comments and tweets by netizens.
