BREAKING: Appeal Court upholds Fubara’s election as Rivers Gov
The petition filed by Patrick Tonye-Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Rivers State, against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was dismissed by an Appeal Court sitting in Lagos State on Tuesday.
The APC candidate asked the court to proclaim him the victor of the March governorship election in Rivers when he appeared in court on Tuesday.
The Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal first rejected Cole’s lawsuit in October, which challenged Fubara’s election as governor.
The APC candidate, however, went to the appeal court because he was dissatisfied with the Tribunal’s ruling.
Nonetheless, the court on Tuesday maintained the October victory of Fubara as confirmed by the Tribunal’s decision.
