BREAKING: Coalition storm Edo streets, protest over economic hardship, hunger

Civil Society Organisations in Edo State have taken to the streets of Benin City, the state capital.

The demonstration took place in response to Nigerians’ current economic difficulties.

To express their dissatisfaction, members of the CSOs hoisted posters such as “End Economic Hardship” and “FG End Hunger in Nigeria Now,” among others.

The Benin protest follows Ibadan citizens’ protests against economic hardship.

Meanwhile, a human rights group known as the “Take It Back Movement” has taken to the streets of Lagos State to protest rising food prices and the exorbitant cost of life in the country.

This protest was held in response to the warning given by Adegoke Fayoade, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, on Sunday.

The Nigeria Labour Congress has pledged to hold a demonstration beginning tomorrow.

On February 16, the NLC organized a statewide protest for Tuesday and Wednesday for the purported government’s inability to fulfill agreements struck between the two parties on October 2, 2023, following the withdrawal of fuel subsidies.

The judgment came after a 14-day deadline for the Federal Government to implement measures to alleviate widespread hardship.
