BREAKING: (EFCC) Fresh crises for Naira Marley as Court issues fresh warrant against singer
On Friday, October 5, 2023, Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, issued a production warrant against Nigerian musician Azeez Fashola, commonly known as Naira Marley.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is prosecuting Naira Marley on 11 counts of conspiracy and credit card fraud.
At the resumed sitting on Friday, the defendant’s counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, informed the court that the defendant was unable to attend due to his detention by the Police for interrogation in connection with the murder of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
As a result, Ojo requested that the trial be adjourned.
In response, prosecution lawyer Bilkisu Buhari asked the court to issue a production warrant against the defendant in order to secure his attendance in court on the next adjourned date.
Justice Oweibo granted the prosecution counsel’s requests and issued a production warrant against the defendant.
The judge further adjourned the case until October 30, 2023, to allow for the continuation of the trial.
