Burkina Faso junta bans French magazine ‘Jeune Afrique’

Burkina Faso’s military junta has shut down the French-language daily magazine Jeune Afrique, accusing it of publishing fraudulent articles.

The newspaper, according to a statement, was aiming to discredit the armed forces and falsify facts in order to incite unrest.

The charges are based on two recent publications about military discontent.

The magazine’s suspension is the latest in a string of crackdowns on French-language media since Burkina Faso’s military seized over last year.

Jeune Afrique has not yet answered.
