Chelsea come from behind to defeat Burnley in a 4-1 thriller
As Burnley suffered their fifth consecutive Premier League home defeat of the season, Raheem Sterling led Chelsea to an incredible comeback victory.
Wilson Odobert, an eighteen-year-old French forward, celebrated his maiden Premier League debut by drilling low and hard past Robert Sanchez, sending home fans into raptures at Turf Moor.
Chelsea were disjointed at times, but an unlucky own goal brought them back level before halftime.
Sterling’s cross struck the knee of Belgium defender Ameen Al-Dakhil and flew over James Trafford into the net after he returned to the starting XI following a sickness.
Chelsea then scored three times in a solid second-half performance to secure the victory.
Sterling, who has not played for England since the World Cup, was fouled by Brazilian defender Vitinho, allowing Cole Palmer to score his first goal for the Blues since joining from Manchester City.
After Conor Gallagher spotted his run, the four-time Premier League winner with Manchester City scored his side’s third with an arrowed finish.
After Sterling’s goal, play resumed before referee Stuart Attwell called a halt to allow the visual assistant referee (VAR) to conduct an offside check.
The goal, though, was finally allowed to stand.
With Sterling once again engaged in the action, substitute Nicolas Jackson clinched the points with a spin and finish.
Chelsea won against Fulham on Monday, giving them back-to-back Premier League away wins for the first time since October 2022.
